Julia Child wasn't always Julia Child

Israel has grown tremendously in the last few years and has quickly started modernizing. Considering the fact that half of Israel's money goes directly to their military, defending themselves to survive, it is truly incredible that Israel has developed so much in just 63 years. Artists, architects, industrial and fashion designers are no strangers to success in Israel and some even make a name for themselves internationally. I think some of you will be as surprised as I was to learn that some of the worlds most creative talents and one of my absolute favorite Fashion Designers are from this tiny little country...

Alber Elbaz, Lanvin

The incredibly talented and fashion genius grew up in Holon, served in the IDF, studied at  Shenkar and today is the Creative Director of Lanvin since 2001! He is known for his simple and extremely feminine clothing, and of course for being a female god.

Born in Jerusalem to a Persian Jewish couple, sent to an orphanage by social services in Rishon Lezion, and later moved to Tel Aviv. Tahari has been designing for the past 35 years and built one of the worlds most successful fashion brands with over 6,000 stores in the U.S. and a global presence in more than 40 countries. His clothing is modern, sexy and sophisticated and he continues to dress woman with grace and elegance.

If there is a Fashion Designer out there that completely exhibits Israeli style, its Yigal Azrouel. Azrouel moved to New York from Israel in 1998 and within a year participated in New York Fashion Week. His collections are always classic yet modern and fresh and always unexpected.

Also, look out for Israeli Fashion Designer Yotam Solomon. He moved to L.A. when he was a teenager, studied at the same school as I did, FIDM; The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and is also  24!!! Yet he's the one with a clothing line and a little bit more of a clear direction... Keep your eyes peeled, he's gonna be big!
