Craft and Crochet

August has begun, and staying true to form, Tel Aviv is hot, humid, and jam packed on the beach. Being the main go to location for Tel Avivim and the rest of the hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world, the Coastline of the Mediterranean Sea is an experience in and of itself. Aside from the crystal clear and warm tempered waters, the beaches are also full of beautiful bronzed skin bodies soaking up the sun, kite surfers, and shores full of people playing matkot (Israel's unofficial national sport; like beach tennis). Never a boring day at the beach! However... having spent most of my summer at the beach, I've observed the amount of truly horrible and unflattering bathing suites arrive at the beach! To make an Israeli woman look bad is hard, however bad fabrication, and frecha cut swimwear will do the trick. Feeling anxious and a bit out of control, I decided to spread some positive encouragement hoping that it will somehow reach the public here in Tel Aviv.

Miami Swim Week featured the hottest trends for Resort 2012. I love the eye popping colors, tribal influences, fringe, and of course the intricate crochet designs that have continued to make an appearance on the runway for the last few years. One of my favorite lines that I have discovered is Acacia Swimwear designed by yet another FIDM grad Naomi Newirth. Inspired by her love for travel and exotic beaches, Naomi and partner Lyndie Irons, create beautiful one of a kind pieces with soft Italian fabrics, intricate designs and custom prints. Good news for the woman of Tel Aviv, Acacia Swimwear is available for purchasing on RevolveClothing.com and they offer international shipping!
